Hi! I'm Bennett Lewis, and I'm a Product Design Engineer at Google.

I recently received my Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Stanford in Mechanical and Biomechanical Engineering.

I have long been fascinated by design, and as an individual of Japanese descent, my design philosophy stems from the eight Japanese aesthetics: Iki, Wabi-Sabi, Miyabi, Shibui, Jo-Ha-Kyū, Yūgen, Geidō, and Ensō.

To me, Iki is paramount, as it highlights our relationship with the products we use, and serves to express what is, in my view, the most fundamental aspect of building a truly beneficial and successful product: human-centered design. This area bridges the gap between my fascination for engineering and anatomy, and in doing so underscores my desire to improve the lives of others.

I've shown a commitment to this principle through my past work on Microsoft's Human Factors Team, as well as by leading my own projects in academic research at the Stanford Radiological Sciences Laboratory and the Stanford Systems Neuroscience and Pain Lab.

I hope to further this philosophy in any and of all my future endeavors, and continue to engage in work that is interdisciplinary, challenging, and serves to influence the creation of powerful, life-changing products that promise to transform the world for the many, not just the few.
